Maiden Voyage 07/29/2000
It was a partly cloudy day
with mild temps. There was only a light breeze but enough to fill
the sails. We ( Adam Plourde and I ) put the boat in on a ramp at
Lake Sabbatia in Taunton Ma. We rest the bow in the sand while we raised
the mast and tightened the rigging. We then pulled away from the
ramp with a small electric motor that just did the job. We raised
the sails and set back to enjoy a leisurely sail around the lake.
For me it was perfect, thought a few adjustment will have to be made to
the boat as I has expected. All and all it was a success.

second launch 08/05/2000
Lake George NY, split a campsite
with Adam, we meet up with other project builder for the and their families
for the First New England Regional Regatta. It was a calm day, no
wind, not even the slightest breeze. But we got out there and Bobbed
around for the day. It sure was fun exchanging stories and ideas
and just getting to know a very nice group of people.
third launch 08/05/2000
Sunday at Lake George the breeze
picked up. It was great ! " Juliet" handled
fine although, thought I should make a change to the steering. Later
in the day it got windy,. someone had said there were 20-25 mile an hour
winds. It was almost a little more then I wanted for the first time
actually sailing the boat. Need to become more familiar with her.

fourth launch 08/17/2000
Took another sail on Lake Sabbatia,
nice breeze, got to toy with the boat a little more. She does handle
well. Had changed the steering a bit, and all for the better.
I'm getting to feel more confident in myself and in the boat. She
really can take much more then I have been giving her :)

fifth launch 08/19/2000
We drove down to Wareham, Tempest
Knob. Nice ramp with a pear and dock space. $ 5.00 ramp fee,
slipped into the water with a nice 10 knot breeze. It was just right
! Three of us, Donna, Lily and myself. Light air was perfect
as Donna was not as confident as I and I knew it would take some time for
her to become comfortable with the idea of being out in the boat.
Lily did great, so too did Donna. The breeze picked up to about 12
to 15 knots when we got away from shore. It was beautiful !

sixth launch 08/20/2000
Took my sister-in-law sailing.
Laurajean and I went to Wareham, Tempest Knob. Another nice day, much more
wind then before, about 15 to 20 knots we also experienced some big swells.
" Juliet " handled great, she was very impressive, when we returned,
people along the shore commented " How sweet that boats looks on the
water ".

seventh launch 08/27/2000
Meet Adam at an old concrete
ramp along the Taunton River. Started out about 7:30 am with high
tide. It was perfect sailing weather with winds about a steady 15
knots. Sailed both boats down river to Battleship Cove in Fall River.
Meet Bob Bartlett with his Bristol 22 and his friend Rob just past the
Battleship Massachusetts, docked at a local restraint for lunch then headed
back up river. We returned with the tide, played around taking pictures
and just plain having fun, then pulled back in about 7:00 pm.
It was a bit different sailing with the changing current, defiantly not
like in a lake, not like in the bay with just the tide, it was a great
day ! ! !

eight launch 09/09/2000
Met Bob Harvey at Tempest Knob in Wareham, Adam arrived
just after me. It was early in the day and there was not much of
a breeze. After we got out into the the Bay we caught some nice sailing
conditions. Bob's boat really look great. It was fun to have three boats
out there. We sailed out the the end of the canal and headed back.
With an onshore 10 maybe 12 knot wind it didn't take long to get back to
the ramp. I do hope we get to sail together again.

ninth launch 09/10/2000
Sunday afternoon, I put the boat in at Onset.
There is a concrete ramp with beach on both sides. I did have to
motor under a low bridge about 1000 feet away from the ramp, then beached
her and put up the mast. There were about 15 knot winds, there is
a town pear, you can dock and go to restaurants. Although there was a lot
of traffic on the water, it is a nice place to sail.

tenth launch 09/14/2000
We; Donna, Lily and I, drove down to Fort Adams,
Newport, RI. Put in on a nice concrete ramp that is ribbed.
There are medium size, rounded rocks on each side of the ramp. The
ramp is in a very nice little cove with beautiful mansions along the shore.
We had a pleasant 10-12 knot breeze and the Newport Boat Show on The Water
was in progress. Wow, we saw some incredible boats. And of
course got to show-off a little too :)

eleventh launch 09/23/2000
Met Bob H. and his son, Jason at Tempest Knob about 8:30. There was very little wind when we left the dock but as soon as we motored away it picked up. It seemed to get up above 15 knots a bit. It was just more then we wanted. We stopped on a nice beach area for lunch. At one point Bob said " Ron is your boat moving?" Yup it was, it was about 20 feet away from shore, just far enough so I had to swim out to it. We got it together and sailed back in. Perhaps we will have a little less wind next time.

twelth launch10/01/2000
Put the boat in at Taunton River about 8:00 am. A bit foggy, Mid tide, little breeze. It did not take long before the breeze picked up,15 knots. It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day, temp about 72F. Sailed down the river and up the Assonet River. Beached for lunch then sailed out against the wind but with the tide. Saw Adam with Fandango as I got back to the Taunton River. Wished I had more time but headed for the ramp.

thirteenth launch 10/14/2000
Met Adam at the Taunton River again. Not much of a breeze to start the day off. It finally picked up after about an hour. We sailed down river a ways. Stopped at a little beach for a braek. Adam was continuing down river, I headed back up. was sailing down wind, a sudden blast turned me sideways and the wind knocked me down. The boat filled with water but I was able to get her back up. Bailed her out ( 30-40 minutes) and sailed back with the Jib only.

fourteenth launch 10/22/2000
Put the boat in on Long Pond in Freetown. Nice ramp, fee between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Some large rocks on each side of the ramp but sand after that. Two large concrete steps too. During the week I had installed Reef Points at 1/4 the sail and 1/2 the sail. Also put about 80 pounds of concrete blocks in the cabin tool box. Tied the sails at the 1/4 mark and I believe the ballast made quiet a difference too. 20 knot winds and I sailed right across them with very little heel. Unfortunately it was cool so I only sail a few hours.

Many launches later 10/18/2002
Ok, so it has been awhile since I have added any comments here. But I have been out on the water many, many times in the past two years. I have sailed Buzzards Bay, Onset, Long Pond and the Taunton River over and over and loved every moment. I have made a few changes to the boat also. This spring I sanded down the hull and re-painted it using Almond paint. The boat looks so elegant now. I added two inboard electric motors and a solar panel. I have also added a home made traveler made of PVC pipe. And I orderedand soon should recieve my new dacron sails from Paul J. I do have pics and I will add a link here to a page with modification pictures soon.
